JUDGING
These two experts had the grueling task of judging each quilt and selecting the award winners.

Bonnie Bryce—Looking for a creative outlet while still raising her family of nine children, Bonnie took her first quilting class in 1981. She learned to sew at a young age from her mother and made many clothes for her children as well as drapes, pillows and bedspreads for her home.  It was that interest in decorating her home on a tight budget that sparked her interest in quilting.  The making of many quilts and an interest in interior design led to her business, Willow Tree Design, in 1992.  As a designer she has decorated two Utah Valley Parade homes along with many homes for clients.  Bonnie was the first President of the Utah Valley Quilt Guild and has enjoyed the growth of the quilting industry.

Penny Stephenson—Penny has been quilting for over 25 years. She has served as President of the Utah Valley Quilt Guild and the Utah Quilt Guild. She has taken classes from many national teachers and has taught quilting for many years. Her quilts have won numerous awards including two “Best of Show” at the Springville Museum of Art, “Honorable Mention” at the Houston Quilt Festival, “People’s Choice” at the Festival of the American West, “Best Piecing” and “Best Applique” at the Utah Quilt Festival. Penny has been a judge for a variety of quilt shows.

The Springville Museum of Art gratefully recognizes the excellence brought to this quilt show through the expertise and dedication of the Utah Valley Quilt Guild, the show's co-sponsor, and the show's chairpersons Megan Legas, Sharon Wright, and Francine Berrett.
