Join artist Jean Jeppson Clay and Eurovision at 6 pm on Monday, November 2, 2009, at the Springville Museum of Art for the monthly Community & Family Night. The program and activities will be held in the Grand Gallery of the Museum. The activities will provide an educational, entertaining, and hands-on art experience for all ages. Community & Family Nights are free and open to the public.
Jean Jeppson Clay, our visiting artist, will be sharing her artistic talents with us. Many of her works of art can be seen in libraries, schools, businesses and private residences throughout the state. Her works, inspired by both people and animals, take on a personality all of their own with Clay's use of color and whimsical expression. Clay finds artistic mediums in everything around her -- plastic bootles, duct tape, flannel, rope, wire and anything else that inspires her to create.
Following the artist’s presentation, we will hear from Eurovision, a brand new local band composed of three expatriates who will share some of their favorite songs that remind them of experiences growing up in Europe.
To wrap up the evening, SMA Art Educators will direct a special Art Project that will allow children to explore using recycled objects to create works of art.
The Museum will be open throughout the evening. Explore the Museum and enjoy our fine collection of both Utah and Soviet art. Of special note is the John H. Schaeffer Collection of Victorian and European Art and the 24th Annual Spiritual and Religious Art of Utah exhibitions currently on display.
